Independent lyricist and songwriter, self-produced artist, making my own way on this creative journey.
My main musical influences growing up were Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Annie Lennox. When I began song writing I was inspired by the great female singer/ songwriters; Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy and Carole King. I am interested in both the lyrical detail and the melodies that tell a story.
Before moving to London I interned for ‘Live at Abbey Road’; a late night music documentary where I met some of my musical heroes Yusuf Islam, Counting Crows, Antony & the Johnsons. This made me even more determined to make music a big part of my life.
I moved to London in 2011 to train at the Central School of Speech and Drama as a creative producer and performer where I was encouraged to establish myself as an artist and songwriter.
I grew up in a little village, Stonesfield, just outside of Oxfordshire where I started performing from a young age. I got my first guitar aged 17 and started to write songs about life, birds, love. Now I write about anything that inspires me to tell a story; cities I have lived in, people I have met, poems that I have read and stories I have overheard whilst sitting on a train (usually the wrong one in my case).
“I’ve been friends with Susie since we were five years old, and I’ve always loved her voice. It’s beautiful and soulful, and perfect for a wedding. Secretly I’d always hoped that if I got married, my future husband would love her voice too so that she could sing us down the aisle and, luckily, he thinks she’s great too! We asked Susie to sing Cat Power’s cover of Sea of Love as we walked in to the ceremony together at Oxford Town Hall, and I can honestly say that it was perfect. Her voice suited the song perfectly, and everyone said how wonderful she was – and how great it was having live music in the room, instead of playing music from a phone. I can’t recommend Susie highly enough. She’s completely professional, works so hard to make sure the cover is what you’re hoping for and she plays beautiful, honest music. Looking back, walking down the aisle to Susie’s version of one of my favourite songs was a highlight of the day. I absolutely loved it.” Sarah
“Susie sang lead vocals for me in a recording that was a featured part of a film score. Her vocal interpretation of the songs really helped to set the tone and scene for A Song For Nine Elms, directed by Lucy Cash. Susie’s enthusiasm and ability to take direction made the whole session very enjoyable and she also agreed to spontaneously learn and sing a second song, for which I was incredibly grateful. Susie is a flexible professional with a lovely quiet confidence and is a talented singer.” Fraya Thomsen- Film Composer
“Susie B’s presence at our wedding as a friend and talented musician was so special. She took time to carefully select heart felt and appropriate songs and the gentle sound of her voice accompanied by her guitar really enhanced the personal feel of our day. She played in the open air to over 150 guests and came with all the necessary PA system and equipment.I really couldn’t rate her talents higher – beautiful songwriting perfect for an emotional day. Thank you Susie”

We really enjoyed spending time with her and look forward to welcoming her back to the studio in the future.” Emma & Alan-The Alpha Sessions.
